Home Screens - Stacie Rominski

This is the 3rd post in a series called Home Screens.  David Sparks over at MacSparky has been doing this for a long time and I thought it would be interesting to ask my friends, family, and former co-workers what is on their Home Screens!

Stacie Rominski is the owner and photographer at fluxfoto. She specializes in wedding photojournalism and lifestyle photography in the Minneapolis area. In addition to owning fluxfoto and shooting whenever she can, she loves exploring different creative outlets such as interior design, drawing, and typography. Stacie is mildly obsessed with Pinterest and Starbuck’s Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate. She shoots Nikon and is an avid Apple enthusiast. She really likes the idea or reading books, but would rather surf through photo blogs and picture books. Follow her adventures on...

What are your most interesting home screen apps?

MyFitnessPal, Analytics Pro, Hipstamatic, Square, Pinterest

What is your favorite app?

This is a difficult question for me to answer because I have a couple favorites. Most recently my favorite App is the MyFitnessPal App (free in the App Store). For anyone with a New Years Resolution to lose weight, get healthy, or just to be more conscious of their current lifestyle, this App is fantastic! In addition to the App there is also a web interface to track your calories, workouts, nutritional intake, weight, measurements, etc. too. For those serious users or the ones that have a difficult time with self-control, you can also share your progress with your select “friends” to help hold one another accountable. For me, it has been a huge eye opener about how bad my constant snacking of non-healthy foods has been. The best part is that the App is easy to use and self-explanatory. The food database is huge! Only once have I had to add something custom to it, which then adds it to the global database for all users.

Which app is your guilty pleasure?

Hands down, Instagram… I love Instagram’s simplicity. It is a great App for those who prefer to express themselves and their lives through photos rather than words. It is easy to share with Friends and Family who do not have the App through email, Facebook or Twitter. I am a photography buff and love sharing my personal and professional work, this is one simple way to do it. Instagram has a variety of different filters and effects that can be applied prior to publishing to give your photo or snap shot a little something extra. Follow me on Instagram @fluxfoto

What is the app you are still missing?

There are so many Apps in the App Store, I don’t think I am missing anything at the moment that I absolutely HAVE to have. There are plenty of awesome photos out there that I would like to have… but for the moment I am set!

How many times a day do you use your iPhone?

50+ at least

What is your favorite feature of the iPhone?

My favorite feature of the iPhone is that it can fit everything I need in my pocket. It is very rare that I need to get my computer out to complete simple or even sometimes complex tasks. I can approve blog comments, check and respond to email, monitor my site’s analytics, take snap shots, tweet, post to Facebook, network, etc.

If you were in charge at Apple, what would you add or change?

If I were in charge at Apple… I would probably add built in voice directions into the Maps App. Although there are several Apps out there by GPS companies that provide this service it would be great if it was integrated into the already highly intuitive Maps App out of the box.

Stacie was our wedding photographer and we could not have been more pleased with her work!   I highly recommend her not only for the high quality of her work but because she is a joy to work with!
