Home Screens - Jon Athmann

This is the 12th post in a series called Home Screens. David Sparks over at MacSparky has been doing this for a long time and I thought it would be interesting to ask my friends, family, and former co-workers what is on their Home Screens!

Jon Athmann is a comedic writer for Will Ferrell’s website, FunnyorDie.com. His viral articles are among the most popular content on the website and has led to nearly a million page views and hundreds of thousand of likes. Writing under the moniker, Team Pwnicorn, Jon has been featured on CollegeHumor, Failbook, Muggle.net, and Chuck Palahniuk’s (Fight Club) fan page. Jon continues to write featured content for the interwebz and is building an extremely active fan base on Facebook in preparation for his next big step.

What are your most interesting home screen apps?

I JUST discovered the Meme Generator app. It’s amazing. I finally have a convenient way to vent about my First World Problems. Plus it’s kind of my dream to create the next popular meme, like Bad Analogy Bear or Oliver the Asthmatic Owl.

What is your favorite app?

Definitely Pandora. I love keeping my playlists fresh. I nerded out so hard when I found this band called I Fight Dragons. They use old bit-crushed video game sound cards for their power pop songs. Man, I want to fight a dragon someday, I’m looking at you scientists.

Which app is your guilty pleasure?

I’ve been known be a fierce competitor on Words With Friends. But watch out, I go into a murderous rage when I know people are using words that they never use IRL. Go ahead friends, try to use haaf in a sentence... earn your 78 points, jerks.

What is the app you are still missing?

I still can’t believe their isn’t a Quidditch app out there. It would be the perfect way to pick up girls. “Hey laddies, want to check out my Oakshaft?”

How many times a day do you use your iPhone/iPad?

I wouldn’t be surprised if I average 6 hours a day. Between writing, posting on my Facebook page, emailing editors, and combing the internet for funsies, I’m always clacking away on my iboxes.

What is your favorite feature of the iPhone/iPad?

I love that I can write something in Pages on my iPad and have it be on my iPhone with just a pinch of Apple fairy dust. I’m still confused why they don’t extend that ability to Macbooks as well. It’s the last piece of the Tri-force!

If you were in charge at Apple, what would you add or change?

Deep breath More wearable technology, bio-feedback incorporated into iPods, extend Nike+ to the shuffle, have augmented reality built into the iPhone, make Pages auto-update on my laptop. And lastly, I would take my 80 billion dollars in cash and invest in making FOLEDS, flexible organic light emitting diodes. It would make the devices thinner, more energy efficient, and allow them to be flexible so you could roll up your phone or iPad and the screen wouldn’t crack when you drop it!

Anything else you’d like to share?

Thanks Mike for having me on your blog! Such a nice/capable guy. Oh, and check out Team Pwnicorn for contests, prizes, rofls, and my next viral article!
