On Wednesday, September 19th Apple released iOS 6 for iPhones, iPod Touches, and iPads.
iOS 6 is compatible with the following devices:
- iPhone Models: iPhone 3GS and later
- iPad Models: second generation and later
- iPod touch Models: fourth generation and later
The software update contains numerous new features. To learn more about the new features visit Apple's website.
If you are currently using iOS 5 you can install the software update by following the instruction found below.
Note: You must be connected to Wi-Fi to download this update.
Tap on Settings
Tap on General and then Software Update
Before you tap on Download & Install I would encourage you to plug your device into a power source. You wouldn't want to have your battery die in the middle of an update.
After you have plugged into a power source tap Download & Install.
Tap Agree to agree to the Terms & Conditions.
Once the update is done downloading your device will restart automatically.
While the update is installing you will see a black screen with an Apple logo and a white progress bar. Once the update is done installing you will see a scren that says iOS 6.
During the setup process for iOS 6 you will be prompted to enter in your Apple ID password.
If you have the new iPad (released Spring 2012) you will be asked if you would like to use Siri.
When you are done answering the handful of questions you will see the following screen. Just tap on Start Using iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch to use your device.
